Drastic minimum wage increases in CA will force employers and schools to scramble to keep labor cost

To read an op-ed I wrote about this issue, please click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/z5absj2.

This past Sunday, the Orange County Register published an op-ed I wrote regarding California’s new $15 minimum wage law entitled, Minimum wage causing major loss.  As I’ve done in other op-eds and media interviews, I explained how the higher wages will result in job losses for those workers who need entry-level jobs the most. I’m deeply concerned about the fact that many young people will not have the same opportunities to obtain the valuable skills they need to move up the economic ladder because these jobs will be gone. To illustrate the larger impact of the increase, this time around, I also discussed the impact the increase will have on public schools which will have to figure out ways to absorb the increases.
