Appearances: Mornings with Maria – Unions have a chance to prove their relevance; Elizabeth Warren&#

Yesterday, Andy joined Mornings with Maria to chat about ongoing strikes across the country, Senator Elizabeth Warren’s “Medicare for all” plan and more.

When asked about his thoughts on the picketing in American business, Andy said, “The time to strike is when there is a demand for labor… This is a time when workers have a lot of strength.” He went on to add that unions need to assert power and prove they are still relevant during this time when there is such a strong demand for employees.

Next discussed was Elizabeth Warren’s Medicare for all plan, which would ultimately eliminate private insurance altogether. Andy noted that over a ten-year period, the cost of Medicare for all is estimated to be over $3.26 trillion. “Last year the entire revenue of the federal government was $3.3 trillion, and we spent $4.1 [trillion]… You could triple all the taxes she’s talking about, you still couldn’t pay for Medicare for all… there is no rational way to pay for this,” Andy argued.

Andy was then asked about what might happen if Elizabeth Warren is the Democratic nominee that will go up against President Trump. “Her economic policies are nonsense. Her plans are nonsense and she is running against a president who’s got a very good economy going for him,” said Andy.

In closing Andy was asked about young American’s favoring socialism over capitalism and why that might be, to which he quoted Winston Churchill and said, “If you’re not a liberal when you are young, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative when you’re old, you have no brain.”
