Last night, Andy joined Trish Regan to discuss the recent arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou on charges related to improper funneling of payments through a third-party intermediary. Despite the difficult position, Andy notes that Trump will likely use it to his advantage as leverage during his trade deal with China. “What I do like about this is that Trump has turned this into an arrow in his quiver,” said Andy. “He has tariffs, he is using everything he possibly can during negotiations. He’s going to use all of this with these charges against the CFO to try and get an even better trade deal.”

Also discussed was the USPS proposal to raise revenue by selling access to your mailbox to private companies such as FedEx and UPS. “The post office lost $3.9 billion dollars last year. This could make up for that and they could actually charge FedEx and USP a fee for access,” notes Andy.
In closing, Trish asked Andy about the ongoing discussions of an economic downturn next year. “There will not be a recession next year, none of the numbers indicate that,” argued Andy. “The last six quarters we’ve averaged three percent GDP growth, it is just not going to happen.”
