Last week, Andy joined Cheddar to discuss Trump’s threat of a 5% tariff on Mexican goods to combat the crisis on the border. “This is not a concern about whether or not our trade relationship with Mexico is fair. This is a reaction to a threat- a security threat that we have at our border,” said Andy.
When asked about President Trump’s decision to Tweet a video of 1,036 illegal immigrants crossing the border, Andy agreed with the president and noted that Americans need to see this so they are aware of what is happening.
Lastly, Andy was asked about how these tariffs will hit the food sector in America, to which Andy argued that with the booming economy due to tax cuts and deregulation, people are taking home more money and if we’re going to have to absorb the cost of tariffs to achieve the long-term goal of national security, now is the time to do it.
